Book: Pretties

Author: Scott Westerfeld

Thoughts: Again, I am a sucker for teen sci-fi series! As the sequel to the book Uglies, writer Scott Westerfeld has done a great job of painting a realistic view of the future based on the things we are currently doing and what the projected outcome of our choices now might be. It’s almost as if he is trying to warn us of what could potentially happen. This is merely based on our values and aspirations as human beings. The things that are important to the public eye, i.e. looks, power, knowledge, consumption of the world, are all things that lead them to this Dollhouse-esque state of being. Control, deception, manipulation. Then, realization, will-power, motivation and finally seeing the big picture. This was a great mix of adventure and suspense! Great book, easy read, loved it.
